If not answered by this evening, I'll have a look in the bible, but last time I had this kind of problem (different car) the reverse light switch was on the side of the gearbox - easy to spot from the wire!

Hopefully someone with some sense will let you know shortly - and thanks for the bulb tip BTW

Bible does not list "reverse" or "reversing lights" in the index, and in "Chapter 6 - the Electrics" although listing the wattage of the bulb, does not seem to say anything else about it... I'm trying "gearbox" now as I assume the switch is on the box somewhere..

Cheers,
Matt.

There are a pair of connectors for the gearbox switch on the (drivers) side of the gearbox. They're bullet connectors and not very secure.

The switch is directly under the gear lever and you can access it through the hole for the gear lever.

You could also disconnect the connectors from the gearbox and join them together to test that the circuit and bulbs are working.

Don't think the reversing lights are in the MOT. Best to have them working though, for safety reasons.

The switch referred to located under the gearlever can be over-adjusted (at least thats what I did!!) and the sprung switch plunger gets B*****ered.
I sourced a new one from my local DAF/LDV truck dealership - about £15 I think.
Best way to set-up is to put lever into reverse, then wind in the switch body until it just makes contact and reversing lights come on. (best done in garage!)Then tighten lock nut against gearbox casing.

Success!

One of said bullet connectors had simply come off -

If only it was always so simple....
