M Sport BMW 5-Series Breaks Cover
Sporty tweaks for BMW's latest exec
These are the first pics of the M Sport version of the new BMW 5 series, which will be available as an option in the UK from September.
The M Sport kit has been developed by BMW's M division, and includes tweaks to the suspension and aerodynamics, and interior and exterior changes.
18-inch alloys will be standard, but 19-inch wheels will be an option, as will an 'M' bootlid spoiler for the saloon.
Inside there is a sprinkling of 'M' badges, including on the seats and steering wheel. The seats themselves a mix of Alcantara leather and fabric, whjile other M-specific upgrades include a chunky leather-wrapped steering wheel rim, an 'M' gear lever and foot rest, an anthracite roof lining, and M aluminium interior trim strips.
Joining the M Sport tweaks will also be a new model - the 535d - featuring a 295bhp 3.0-litre twin-turbo straight six.
Discussion
Not a good looking car IMO.
Crying out for multi-spoke wheels and more depth to the front bumper.

But how does anybody, let alone design guys and engineers at BMW think a cabin this dull, actually looks good?

Seriously my kitchen cooker looks more appealing.
i agreed with you, until i went in another BMW with the same interior. it is a very nice place to be, and i've been in some nice cars over the years. it did feel really good (it did have the upgraded leather option). the interior is a different league to the current M3, which is also nice IMO.

BMW are moving away from 1 million buttons on the dash. it makes it more plain, but so much easier and simpler. i prefer it that way.

Exactly, if they keep getting wrong it's just like a broken record. I like your analogy. Thanks

Looks good but prefer the SE myself. The equipment is good enough as they all come with leather interior and 17" alloys as standard, which is all you need really, so don't see the attraction of paying £3k extra for the M Sport package.
Also does anyone else think BMWs are starting to all look the same, much like Audis range? I find it impossible to tell apart the 7-series, 5-series and 'GT'.

They seem to have gone backwards in the Wheel Design Department as well.
Instead of Evolving this M-Tech style:

They've Regressed back to this one:

Nice spot on the wheels! I am sure it's the classic "let's make the 18" wheels look a bit pants so you tick the 19" box" marketing/sales ploy. Instead of Evolving this M-Tech style:

Aesthetic advice from a man who owns 2 TR7's. Really................

A cheap/dull looking interior is fine if there's a trade off, usually price vs performance. But in a car such as this, I really do struggle to see the appeal of so much grey......

For me a nice interior needs to be something like this:

IMO the Beemer looks like a budget rental by comparison.

Oh and the interior is perfect, I really don't see how they could have made it any better. f
k off with the dull comments, the interior is 100% spot on for an executive class car.
Are most executives liking dull then?? Maybe it just matches in with the decor of most executive offices - bland and featureless
