Should be an easy one this....

And so, for the final time my LS7 is nestling nicely between the legs of the rear chassis...(no...this is not getting smutty!)

..and then ....DOOOH! I forgot to plug the crank sensor cable in, and from memory, I think its at the front of the engine! Grrrrrr!

I have more recently been know to have the odd SENIOR moment, and I can't for the life of me remember where the socket is, as I am going to have to get underneath and squeeze my hand up between the frame and the front of the engine to see if I can feel where it is...

To help reduce the lacerations and nail breaking, can someone give me a clue where it is?

cheers

Yep , front of engine at bottom.
You can get your hand around there without getting underneath.

it uses a combination of the two both cam and crank sensor - computer is then able to determin which piston is due to be fired withing 1/4 revolution of start up or something like that.

also if you having trouble getting pased emmissions you might like to try disconecting the alternator if its a cold start test thats less than 5-6 minuets as that will reduce the load on the engine. you will need a full charged battery though.

apparently some of the later Euro 4 compliant GM ecus will disable the alternator for the first couple of minuets by defalt for this reason.

Is that not the knock sensor?

Actually Dave I think the Knock sensor is a little 'fore' of this one about 1/3 of the way along the side of the engine if I am not mistaken. The waterproof plug/socket is different shape so you can't mix them. (the knock sensore had a square plug, and the crank one has an oval 3 pin plug).

Hope I am right!
