When I am idling or at a junction, the overriding noise is a high-pitched squeaking coming from the engine bay, presumably a/the belts.

As well as standard belts, I have additional belts in relation to the JRSC. Is there a catch-all solution or do I need to be careful in treating certain belts (assuming I need to apply some sort of lubricant)?

Cheers all,

My money is on the JRSC belt... or possibly the S/C alignment not quite right.

No, do NOT apply any lubricant!!

You need to identify the belt, and ensure it is seated and tensioned correctly, and ensure the belts are clean.

Is there any belt dust anywhere?

Spray a little water on each belt in turn. When you find the guilty belt it should quieten (or at least change) for a while.

Yes, dont blather them in oil, check the belts and check the alignment + tension.
How old are the belts?

Also - how old is your waterpump? They shriek like hell for a bit giving you prior warning that the bearing is about to munch itself and leak coolant everywhere. Keep an eye on your coolant level closely...

when you find which belt is squeeking my advice would be to replace it rather than treating it with anything. when the belt sqeaks it will be slipping so will glaze over and nothing you can do will fix it permanently, in my experience anyway.
