You seem to be handling it quite well though when I was behind you, took me a good few laps to get past, as you pip me on the rolling start for a change
Need to get my starting sorted. bit to chicken on coldish tyres, but better than going off, about a 1/3 of the grid was on the grass on the 1st corner at Snetterton.

Yeah Im not convinced that rolling starts are any safer.. you tend to enter the first corner much faster with cold tyres, and if anything goes wrong off the line your going much faster, just look on you tube for some big gt accidents recently, or even ANdy Neate's start line crash at the britcar the other year.
I think the only advantage they have, is if someone stalls on the line, they could end up with someone up there rear quite quickly esp if there are faster cars behind that qualify problems and hence a poor time, or DNF on 1st race.
The other problem with rolling starts esp at the back the grid can get out of position, I know I gotten the wrong end of position every time.

Andy Neates accident was so serious because the circuit configuration allowed the car to come back across the track after its first impact with the wall, to be hit a second time. That can't happen with the new Silverstone layout. It was also incredibly unfortunate that he hit the one section of wall that was at an angle (the vehicle access road), otherwise even with the old configuration, he may not have come back across the track.Starts are always fraught with difficulty as its the time you have the most cars in the smallest area of the track.
Personally I prefer everyone moving at broadly the same speed compared to the risk of someone near the front stalling and being hit by someone from near the back who won't have seen him. Or, in the case of an F3 race at Oulton, being driven over by the Safety Vehicle
Rolling starts are also significantly kinder to the car (clutch, gearbox, diff, driveshafts), and you don't have that dreadful delay with the car overheating whilst you wait for all cars to take up position after the green flag lap.
At the end of the day its what you become used to.
(As an aside, unless you hire a bit of runway, you also never get an opportunity to practice standing starts. I remember doing one in 2005 when I had a Mosler immediately in front of me and V8s (including a Nicholson McLaren engined thing) all round. Its normal not to be able to hear your own revs so you set them using the guage and hold them by feel of the vibrations through the seat. In this case all I could hear or feel was the sodding great 7 litre throbbing away in the car in front. Shook my whole car. As an even further aside, on that one all of us avoided a part of the track that had cement dust down from an earlier oil spill.... except Darren Dowling who charged round everyone and into second).
