Can anyone recommend some campsites in Corwall or Devon that are not the chavtastic holiday parks that google keeps throwing up?

I know its a longshot trying to find a decent site as we are planning to go in August and fancied combining a few nights in tents with a few nights in Hotels but I wanted to get the campsites sorted first.

We go to Harlyn Sands, it has a chav element but is big enough to avoid them and the camping field is huge. Posh people there too, and the best bit is that you can walk to Harlyn Bay in about 5 mins for surfing, walks, bbq's.

Sorry to force my way in on this but I'd also like to know about this - particularly around the Looe/Polperro area. Last time I went this way we went to Kiligarthin in Polperro - lovely site and a fab little village - but I think you might not like the chavs. I thought it was ok but my missus won't go back.

I haven't actually been on the site as I stay at my cousin's just down the lane, but knowing the area I'd be suprised if you'd find the great unwashed at this place:

Have to agree with pugwash4x4. Have been going there for last 4 years and book up as soon as the 2 weeks end to get the same pitch.

Are you there this year pugwash4x4.

I've heard good reports about this place just outside Looe (1.5 miles). Mrs Rsoles Dad has stayed there a few times when we haven't got any free rooms and he enjoyed it.

We've used Bude Meadows a couple of times in the past - great site, good facilities, not too big. Very family-oriented though so may not suit if you've not got little ones.

Thanks for the replies so far, I fear the lack of little people may be what is making me wonder if I will get fed up of a lot of sites, most of the camping I do is either out of peak season, or when most kids are at school so I am used to quiet sites with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Perhaps Corwall in August isn't the best for this kind of holiday hehe

If you want to go nearer to Lands end (for gods sake don't go to it), Boleigh farm, just past Lamorna is nice.

Nice and quiet. A little basic, but it depends on what you want. The ability to wander down to the "Wink" in Lamorna, and have a pint of Skinners appeals greatly to me wink

Chav free yes,

but the massive public school parties that take place every night on the beach are something to note..

they are epic if your young, but could be st if your looking for peace and quiet. the sound of police sirens etc.

It is pretty nasty to get in and out of and the road is used for entry to the car park, it is also windswept and you have to book a year in advance. And the site is pretty tight, but I quite like the cosy location and proximity to the beach. And its a small site with few facilities and there are not many pubs in Polzeath. Isn't there an order preventing youths from gathering on the beach at night, and the plod are pretty vigilant (when they are around). Awesome walk around to Daymer Bay and Rock.

This is why I moved onto Harlyn, and access to Padstow is easier.
