Car insurance - Ive seen a reduction!!
Discussion
After taking the lazy boy route of using search engines for my renewal I was, as many of you were, shocked to be faced with an almost 50% increase despite being a year older and yet another succesful year of avoidance of accidents.
Damn.
Anyway, not being happy with paying £850 last year on my st220, i certainly was not going to cough up £1250 this year (my auto renewal was actually £1300!).
Anyway after taking one of the most competitive quotes off compare the suricate, adding my mum and my grandma (they can now pick me up from the pub) and reducing my mileage as i didnt use my whole allowance from last year, I have actually managed to get it down to £685!!! A saving on last year. yipee.
It really is worth spending a bit of time playing with quotes, its probably the most money i have made in a hour!

Me too
Although wierdly, having had my renewal back, at about £290, it was £350 last year (I'm 23 and driving a group 7 car with 3 years NCB so not a huge risk), the addition of an accident for both my parents (1 non-fault and 1 car park ding) decreased my premium even further than the renewal to £250
It's almost impossible to second guess these things!!
P.S. I added the parents last year and saved myself well over £200, wish I'd done it earlier!!

Thats cheap, I'm 24, 5 years NCB, low risk and the best price I can get for a focus/fiesta is £400+.

Damn that's cheap, I'm 24, 4 years NCB no accidents with a Group 8 car and paying £850 (down £50 from last years £900)

P.S. If you don't have your parents on, it's well worth the addition. Also helps when I'm at uni because they can keep it running for me

ETA: I'm also only on 6k miles/annum which probably helps quite a lot aswell. I don't know - like I said earlier, it seems to be a complete lottery what people pay for insurance

I'm 29, 3yr ncb (not accrued any in 2yrs due to driving on a classic policy). 3points 4 yrs ago, low risk area.
best i can find for a group 10 clio with 18k business miles is £680 and that's with an alarm, immobiliser, residential parking and both parents added (saved 50 per parent even though they live in a different county!). the fact i own another an and am named on 3 others doesn't seem to have an impact. this is triple
what I've been paying on my old car which had twice the power.
perhaps the most shocking aspect is that this cheapest quote was from flux!

I was paying £680 on an M5 (E39) last year. I was 26 at the time, with 3years ncb.
I know. I was even getting quotes of £540ish on a bloody ford ka. they're group 2 ffs!
things that annoy me most is that the additional security, off street parking and ownership/use of other cars don't seem to affect the premium. even the fact I'm self employed and need business miles only added 30 quid.
oh, and a quote on a BMW 740i was only £800, but I dismissed it on running costs. piss boiler, I have no idea why I'm being stiffed so badly.
