First niggle with my 2007 Vantage:

When locking the car with the remote control occasionaly the passenger door isn't locking.

In adition to this sometimes the doors aren't able to lock, you hear the locking mechanism locking and unlocking.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Do you have access to the Aston Martin owners club forum? If so, use this link or paste into your address bar, it may be of some help:

Hi Christof... yep my Vantage has started doing this as well... it's in for its annual service at the moment, but they say they can't see anything wrong with it. Realise that this is not very reassuring (in fact it is very disconcerting!) but at least you are not the only one!!

as you close the door make sure the window goes up a further couple of mm.my 07 did this regularly with the result being the door would lock but you could just open it right up.a tell tale sign when you are in car is the little red door light on the inside doesn't go out.had it sorted at last service but it still does it from time to time.

Thanks guys!!!

Spoke to the dealer and will try some new settings before I'm
doing the 60 miles drive to the workshop for replacing the door mechanism.

Very helpful to have a 2 years extended warranty :-)

Sorry to revive this old topic smile

But I noticed mine does it too: the driver door always locks, but the passenger door sometimes won't lock. It will lock always if i first open it, and then close it.

Now, my question is this: is this something that needs to be fixed? I rarely leave the car parked somewhere. I only drive it from my house, and then back to my house.

Opening the passenger door and then closing it is only a minor thing to do...

Reason I'm asking is this: my old Audi had a fault in the door lock, and one day all the windows were down and all the doors were unlocked. Is there any chance the Aston will do this too?

Anyone with some experience on this? For all I know, the car could have been doing this since day one, because how often do you check if the passenger door?

Thanks !!

I just had the locking module which also controls the mirror folding replaced in my 07 as it was starting to malfunction. Pretty common in this age car.

Are you mirrors folding properly - if not might be another telltale

Thank you for your reply!

I don't have the mirror folding option.

I don't mind spending money to have the locks or the modules replaced. But on the other hand, like i said before: in my case it doesn't matter if it works or not. If it locks 100% by just opening the passenger door first, I don't mind. Or by just using the old fashioned key smile

I'm just worried it will get worse (not being able to open any door, the alarm acting up, windows going down on their own, ...)

Funny you say you don't have the folding mirror option

I didn't think I had it either till the dealer serviced the car and fixed the module for me

Then I had folding mirrors

Also worth noting if you disconnect the battery (which I did to fit a new steering wheel) then the mirror folding function needs to be reset by the dealer

So are yours ure you don't have folding mirrors

Worth checking

Good luck

The mirrors fold when you push the two buttons in the interior at the same time. But as far as I know, they don't fold when you close the car with the remote (i have the old Volvo key).

I'm wondering how many people have this problem without knowing it? Most people only lock the doors with the remote, and never look back. And those who close, and then check, they mostly only check the drivers side smile

I had a few of these door locking issue when I collected my 06 V8V a few months ago.
Firstly I couldn't open the drivers door from the outside, but this was a mechanical issue, the handle led lens had fell off and lodged itself in the mechanism. hehe
Then none of the doors would lock on the remote, then the passenger door wouldn't open from the inside. rolleyes
All fixed quickly by the supplying Main Dealer with a hint of embarrassment.
Unfortunately no idea what they actually replaced as they seemed reluctant to supply any paperwork for the fixes, but as an aside, my wing mirrors fold on the interior buttons but not on the remote. scratchchin

To my knowledge, from 2007 there was the mirror folding option for the Vantage. If your mirrors will fold by pressing both mirror selector buttons together, you should have the option to use this feature with the key fob as well. You just have to ask your AM shop to activate this via the computer.

My car is a 2006 model, and has folding mirrors so I don't think it's just from 2007.

I've had this occur in two different guises on my 2006 model.

Firstly was when the window position needed re-training.

Second time there was a very small leaf stuck over the locking mechanism, I honestly couldn't believe it stopped the door from locking, but it did.
