Got back from Goodwood today, Le mans in two days.

Just got back from 3 days at Goodwood FOS today (first time). What an event, bloody awsome.
I am looking forward to my first time at the Classic. But now i fear that the Classic le mans event will be an anti climax. Will i be disapointed? Have i got any reason to think the way i am? What do ya think? Does one tend to buzz after the Classic?

Different event all together. I'm doing the same as you, as I did two years ago. My pattern is always Le Mans 24, FoS, Le Mans Classic, Goodwood Revival.
All four events are awesome in there own way - the classic is such a pleasant and laid back event compared to Goodwood, brilliant cars and brilliant atmosphere. I don't think you will find it an anti climax.

Goodwood FOS better than the Le Mans Classic - not even close. I've been going to the FOS for 10 years and attended my first Classic in '06 - no motorsport event I've been to even compares to it - the scale of the event is something to behold - the cars racing and even the cars on display are often of the very rare/never seen before variety. My tip - go to the pit straight (where the Ferris Wheel is usually stationed during the modern race) and watch at dusk/night the Porsche Kremer K3s blasting over the start/finish line - turbo so hot it's glowing bright red & foot long flames coming out of the back

Have the day off tomorrow to prep the car & then on the 0750hrs Eurotunnel on Thursday - can't wait!

sssshhhhh, don't tell everyone!.Thre is something magical about seeing 917's M1's etc at dusk at Le Mans.
The first time we went in 2002, we were sat in the stands above the pits at dusk on Friday for the qualifying/pratcice & my wife started crying.
When i asked what was wrong she said, "nothing, it's just the atmosphere".
Oh, & the owners/drivers are racing & giving the cars some real stick, not parade/display laps.

The LM Classic is way better than the FOS.
Goodwood is great and a good day out but seeing cars going up the hill at relatively modest speeds is nowhere near as good as seeing real racers on one of the worlds most famous circuits.
Chaz, get yourself down to the start of the Mulsanne near Tertre Rouge for the night race with the GT40's and Ferraris. Watching and hearing them nail it onto the straight wil give you goosebumps.

Echo the other comments, it's utterly brilliant
The atmos is quite different to the regular 24hrs, but all the better for it, more enthusiasts IMO rather than chaps just on a weekend on the pop as you get at the normal 24hrs
The journey down is great with lots of exoctica & classic's running togther.
The paddock is a must, great chance to chat with owners & admire some priceless machinery up close. As well as Gt40's, 917's etc some great 'rarri's too, the Breadvan for example
Arnage corner at dusk & into the night is my favourite, cant believe you can have such fun standing on a grass bank drinking cold red wine & watching cars turn right all night
Just sitting having a relaxing beer in the village of Arnage & watching the classic's driving up & down is also top.......GUTTED I cannot go this year

Well after my first classic le mans visit,my conclusion is this.
The paddock area is indeed the best part of the whole experience. I spent most the night there with my son because the day was so dammed hot. Yes indeed, seeing the race cars drive past you and the smells ect, i give 10 out of 10. It was great being in the thick of the action. Oh and the track action also 10 out of 10.
As for the rest of my experience. The BN camp site was totally crap. There were still alot of louts about. Most of the french attendants were rude and inconsistent.
But its all about the cars and for that i give it 10 out of 10.
Though i would take Goodwood for over all enjoyment experience.
