Just a quick one...i need to do an oil change on the TVR but i've been told the oil pump needs priming after the change. However someone has called this toss and said that's only the case if you're doing a rebuild. Can anyone confirm? Cheers

Your Chim will not need to have the pump reprimed.

Just make sure you fill the oil filter with oil before you refit the new filter
and a smear of oil around the oil seal on the filter.

My Oil change proceedure.smile

In 10 easy steps

1. Go for a quick spin to get oil nice n warm
2. Remove Oil filler cap
3. Remove Drain plug and allow oil to drain
4. Refit plug with new washersmile
5. Remove oil filter
6. Pour a drop of oil into new filter, wet the seal with oil and refit Hand tightsmile
7. Pour 5 litres of oil in, re-fit cap and start engine (make sure oil light goes out and gauge shows pressure)
8. Allow to run for a couple of minutes..then switch off...
9. Go for a cuppa
10. After cuppa, check levels and top up as requiredsmile
I fill the new filter rather than just add a drop of oil

I don't like cleaning up spilt oil from my garage floorsmilesmile
I use a clean tray to catch the spill as I line up the filter. It tends to only spill a little and I then use it in my lawnmower

So you "fill" it up knowing that you'll lose some when you come to fit itsmile

Interesting techniquehehehehe

Just pulling your leg, I normally put some in while its sitting on the bench, and allow it to soak in...

Suprising how much they hold when it all settles
I bought a larger than normal filter last time and it took half a litre. I would rather have that half litre in the engine from the start than half a litre of air (if you see what I mean)

Just don't wait too long between draining the oil and filling it up again (like have a cup of tea or go out to buy oil etc).

Yeah, completely fine mate. Think someone was confusing fact with fiction! I thought it seemed odd.

Well....I say it went well, the top hose blew open just as I was about to drain it! So I had to drain it while warm, quickly sort the hose, refill with oil and then hoping it all went well, re-bleed the cooling system! wobble
