Anyone got any good tips for where to stay in or around Castle Combe? I thought that there was a village pub that people stayed at, but searching on the internet hotel booking sites can't find anything that's recommended. Has the old place changed hands or gone down hill or am I chasing wild geese?

You are on about the 'White Heart' ( i think).. I live 10 mins from combe, do you want an nice pub, or other types of accommodation.. ?

There are loads of places.. do you want to stay in Bath (that epic fun [depending on age and what you want]) Thats only 10/15 mins away, and its a good drive too.

I think this time I want to be in Castle Combe or as close as poss, and just somewhere comfortable to sleep the night before - reasonably priced but decent.

have looked up the white Hart - but looks like it's just a pub rather than accomodation

Stayed there last week and food was great and the room very nicely furnished. £60 well spent.

cross hands is quite nice and you could do much worse. compass inn is ok too.

hotels in bath are surprisingly few and pricey and few places have secure parking. its also a nightmare to drive through at rush hour.

I've stayed at the Manor House a couple of times in the past when they had special offers on, and was quite impressed.

very cheap. very clean and new decorated rooms.

Friendly owners. lovely dogs!
