Its a pre-programmed date that Doc wanted to travel to, he had already input a few dates he wanted to travel to. Marty actually jumped to 2015 as you state.

Nope. He just mentioned jumping 25 years but the Libyans showed up and shot him. No date was mentioned. Furthermore, the last date programmed was 5th Nov 1955, the date he invented the flux capacitor, hence that's where Marty ended up.
