Aston Martin N420 Unveiled
Special-edition Vantage celebrates Aston's Nurburgring endurance racing activities
This is the new Aston Martin Vantage N420, the latest special edition Aston. Like its predecessor, the N400 from 2007, the N420 has been inspired by Aston Martin's Nurburgring 24hr race experiences.
The Vantage N420 is based on the standard 4.7-litre, 420bhp, 180mph V8 Vantage and is available as a coupe or roadster, and gets either a six-speed manual or (optional) Sportshift automated manual transmission.
The N420 chops 27kg from the kerb weight of the standard Vantage - achieved mostly via the liberal application of carbon fibre.
On the outside, wider sills combine with a carbon fibre splitter, side strakes and diffuser, while 10-spoke diamond-turned alloy wheels with a gloss black finish, black mesh vents and 'Graphitic' tailpipe finishers complete the exterior revisions.
Inside there are 'graphite' instruments, a leather or Alcantara steering wheel, N420 sill plaques and lightweight carbon fibre seats
The Vantage N420 is also fitted with the normally optional Sports Pack. This package combines revised springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, while a new sports exhaust system delivers makes things a bit more noisy (in a good way).
Production of the V8 Vantage N420 begins this month, with deliveries commencing in August and prices from £96,995.
Either sadly (or maybe gladly
) I'll never be able to afford such a car, so won't have to face the agonising choice on if its really worth it over the standard model. That said, I find it difficult to get excited about, so much that even raising an eyebrow in it's direction seems hardly worth the effort. (sorry Aston

)Your "people with too much money" comments also come across as nothing more than the green eyed monster, as much as you try to hide them with "gladly, not me".

I read in the vane hope that I'd be excited, but I wasn't. Some new cars I like, and when I do I say so. Examples being the new Mulsanne, Cayanne, 4.4 Rangie and others. But it's hardly my fault I find these "special editions" just not all that special or interesting.

Pistonheads has always been a varied community with people like Flemke and his McLaren F1 mixing with other car lovers, such as you and me, with rather a more limited budget.

And fair plays to anyone with a budget to buy a £100k toy
