Hi

I need to give back my company car and replace it with something else. I'll be doing very few miles but it will need to be able to live outside and be secure enough to leave in car parks and the likes when I use the train (so the TVR is out, it'll be staying safe in the garage). The budget is a mere £1500.

I was looking at '98 Isuzu trooper's as I like the size, space and 4wd is a bonus around my way, but the insurance is CRAZY Footman James wanted £2500! I got this down to £950 but that's still too rich for me.

So is there a cheap way to insure a 4x4? Should I look at something else (any suggestions)? And when does a car become eligible for classic insurance?

Cheers
Rob

When I gave my company car back I managed to get full no claims by getting a letter from our companies insurance saying I had not had any accidents and passing this on to my new insurer. So providing you haven't had an accident this may well be worth trying. When I had a 4x4 I found Admiral was the best but that was quite a few years ago.

With a quick letter from the company telling the insurer I'm not an idiot it's down to £530... a step in the right direction.

Thanks
