Hi other than a Rolex I’m after a nice looking, durable watch for £2500, any help would be great. Could you post some pics up as well just so I can see what they look like. Thanks Shaun

Omega Planet Ocean thumbup RRP £2,380 on the SS bracelet ... Now the harder, more important decision is; 42mm or 45.5mm? Orange or black bezel? Orange or white numerals? tongue out

Mine, although I have the 'wavey' bezel due to it being 45.5mm in size!

I tried a 42mm PO (as above) for size yesterday, it truly felt like a quality bit of kit. Went well with my wrist size, bracelet looked great and it felt very comfortable, and (IMO at least) it's the kind a watch that can be dressed up or dressed down.

If that's the kind of budget you've got then get out there and try a few different styles and brands on, that's what I'm in the process of doing at the moment. I thought that I wanted a Calibre 5 Tag Aquaracer, and whilst I still haven't written that off as an option now I'm not so sure. You may even want to try some that you're not immediately drawn to, some watches look completely different once on the wrist.

Problem is that whilst I'm enjoying the descision making process you may (like me) just end up getting a little confused as to what to go for nuts

Yup, would be my choice too, or maybe a 2nd/hand Explorer II if 100m water resistant if fine for your usage.

My experience with Omega's UK service centre (Swatch-UK) has been less than satisfactory, so I'd rather have a 2nd/hand Rolex than a new Omega for 2.5k.

2nd IWC would be another choice.

2.5 buys you a lot of watch. Here are my first choices:

All of these are 2nd hand and should fit your budget.

If you're buying new, perhaps you'd like to consider a Fortis Flieger? I've got a bit of a hard-on for them at the moment, this one in particular:

Well not wanting to miss an opportunity for a shameless plug biggrin hsow about something a bit different? You don't see them around and it's classier than the usual suspects as well as being fantastically specced for the money with the Co-Axial escapement, Chronograph function and saphire crystal back. wink

I think you might've missed the extra '0' off the OP's budget wink Not really in the same league as the watches mentioned above!

Even with a budget of £250 CK would even be a consideration for a good watch.

Ha, small world, I've just purchased one of these and it's been an utter turd quite frankly.

It was losing 20-30 minutes a day from the first time I wore it, no bother I thought, I'll take it back and get it checked over.

Picked it up a few days later, no apology from the muppet dealer, but was found to be running fast and was recalibrated, I was told.

Then a day or two after it just stopped, so returned to the shop and this time put a little more pressure on them to fix it, properly, or I'll be asking for my money back.

I get it back about two weeks later with a bill, yes a bill, for £350 because it had taken a knock, apparently.

That's as much as I will stand for, so watch returned for full credit, shop blacklisted and now back wearing my Tag Aquaracer while I ponder my next purchase.

I've just been browsing through the Chrono24 sales section, which is never a good idea! wink If I had ~£2.1K to spend, I'd be tempted by a Zenith El Primero Fly Back Chronograph:
