OK, first track day coming up in Sagaris

As above really, I have decided to dip my toe in the murky waters of track days. It's the RMA day at Odiham on the 18th.

Obviously my checks before (and during) the day will be for oil, water, tyres (inc tread), and I'll be packing my helmet, small selection of spanners etc if anything happens. Insurance is also sorted. The car is fully serviced and looking, sounding and feeling good. I also have AA cover.

So, what else do I need? I mean, really need? Not the 'I pack every spare part including engine' kind of advice...

Isn't Odiham an airfield? After taking mine on three track days at Marham and now needing a front end spray I would be thinking of some sort of paint protection, masking tape etc.

Just go and drive, these cars are made for having fun like this.

I agree with the stonechip comments - keep well away from the back of any car you catch up, airfields tend to have lots of loose stones (especially compared to a real circuit).

Yes, Odiham is an active airfield - hopefully the amount of FOD will be minimal, but I'll make sure I follow that good advice! There is paintshield on there already, but I will bear it in mind...

Don, RMA are an excellent bunch. Not sure if it is the same on the airfields but they are the only trackday company which allows you to over take either side. They keep control of the day and drivers well and they seem to only attract the right bunch.

The only things I would worry about would be your oil level and your tyre pressures. Keep checking your tyre pressures and take out air as required and remember to put some back in the next day. I run 888's on track at 24 PSI.

I have done a few trackdays at ODIHAM with RMA and it was excellent. The long straight allows you to get some serious speed up and you can overtake on either side.....just watch out for those pesky Caterhams !!
