This blows!

Picked up a second hand act decat y-piece and having problems getting it to seal. Tim said to use a ratchet strap which I did and a bit of fire gum but still blowing.

Cat is perfect fit, act is aprox 4 mm out, can get to 2 with strap, will need to be able to swap for mot once a year of course.

Any tips guys? Don't want to do growl sounding like tractor. LOL

I bought a 5000KG Ratchet Strap (LS02-05) specifically for the job; came from these guys:

If you've only got 5mm or so to close up then you're lucky; mines about 10mm. I use a high temp silicone sealant instead of the Firegum stuff these days as the latter tends to crumble.

I changed the manifold gaskets at the same time as fitting my ACT de-cat pipe and did not have any need to force the manifolds together never needed to with the standard y piece either twice, if they need forcing over to meet the y piece flanges then its no wonder the manifolds can crack under that kind of tension

good video as usual from Quinny(the accent alone would give him away)although he fitted one of Clive F's de-cats that's the same way mine fitted with just those odd subtle taps with the hide hammer on the bands as Quinny says,i expect my brothers car to go the same way when it comes into the shop shortly
