Pics - Wife won silver medal in the European Sprint Champs!!

My wife has been doing triathlon (run/bike/swim) for a year or so and has been doing really well and I wanted to share news of her recent success. I have been on here before asking for advice about bikes! The other week she came 4th in her age group in the British National Sprint Triathlon Championships thereby winning a GB vest (how cool is that??!!) and the honour of representing the country in the World Championships in Hungary this September:
Last weekend we went to the European (sprint) Triathlon Championships (which she had already qualified for last year) where she came second in her age group (age 30-34) therefore taking the silver medal. She was 5th woman overall. Much better than we expected.
Here are the athletes in the holding area prior to the swim. Anna is on the left:

The swim can get quite rough (punches and kicks etc) before the pack thins out:
Out of the water, off with the wet suit, and rush to the bike for the cycling leg. I don't have any pics of the bike leg because you couldn't get anywhere near transition:

I am very proud of her. She only missed the gold medal by 20 seconds, and if she had a faster bike (a full on time trial bike rather than her Trek Madone 5.2) she may well have won. We are looking at getting a time trial bike now.
We are off to the World Championships in Hungary in September and we are looking forward to it.
Next year we are thinking she should move up to half iron man distance, and perhaps ultimately, the full iron man. Hard as fook. But she will do well, I am sure.

So you are blaming PH for your wife not winning.

The thing is, when she started doing triathlon training about 18 months ago, she had hardly ridden a bike at all in her life. She hated cycling as a kid. We thought about getting her a TT bike last year, but I don't think she would have handled it very well. They are twitchy and she may have fallen off. That's why we went for a Trek Madone WSD with clip on tri bars which is a piece of cake to handle. Now she has more experience of cycling, a TT bike seems appropriate now, but they are a little dear!
