My Beemer gets another year.

My 1998 E36 323i Saloon owned from 6 months old passed it's MOT yesterday and only needed a wiper blade and a bulb. 
What puzzles me tho' is that 2 years ago the steering rack was on the advisory notice and my BMW specialist said that it would need replacing by the next MOT.
Last year it was on the advisory again so I was braced to have to spend a lot of cash this time around but it was not even mentioned.
Same BMW specialist has MOT'd it for years.
Weird!
