Following on from the "oldboys" thread.
I am really getting the itch now. I was planning to get a classic convertible after i get a house with with a garage, but seeing thier prices now I just wanna get it right now while the weather is good!! ARGH!
Doing some reasearch, I wanted to buy one that was built in the mid 70s, but reading up on them, seems that the ones from 1980s had ebtter rust proofing and engines.
What do PHers reckon takes priority in a car that you plan to keep for decades? The newer tech or the older more original car?
Obviously, aside from enjoying owning and driving it through the decades I do hope that in 20 years time it will also be worth the equivalent of the SLs that are one generation up (i.e. starting at 30k)
Also, I was unable to find a resource that explains the engine line up, their consumption and acceleration and not clear wich had the 3speed box and whcih had the 4speed box. Any help with that?
cheers!
