how do every one. just new and i needing a little help.
i'm building a pilgrim sumo, and have a good 351 cleveland to go in,
problem is i need a manual gearbox and bell-housing to suit. i've read that people put a getrag box on them,
but what is the getrag box from and where do i get a bell-housing.

i'd be grateful of any help, and i'm also open to other suggestions.

cheers, adam.

Adam,

Nice engine (I'm biased).

Depending on the state of tune a well built T5 will handle anything a stock or mildly tuned Cleveland will kick out.

After that as well as the Supra, or preferably Supra Turbo box is one option, the other is a a Tremec T56, I think available in both 5 & 6-speed version.

A noticeably larger box but designed to take more torque. Plenty of tech info out there:

http://www.ttcautomotive.com/english/products/tr-3...

If you go for a T5 you can use a bellhousing from an 85-93 mustang, and convert to a cable clutch. The Cleveland uses the same bellhousing as the Ford 302 and 351 Windsor.

Further re the T5 you camn spend money on it to make it handle big numbers so consider: http://www.gearboxman.co.uk/infot5.html

Based in Hertfordshire and comes highly recommended.

They just rebuilt my TVR box.

I have a 'built' Cleveland in another car circa 500 bhp which I'm intending to convert from auto to a stick shift and will consider one of his T5's.

Good luck.

Phil

i'm also biased biggrin

have just read about someone using the t56 box thats fitted to the monaro, 6 speed, however you need to source the 170mm long input shaft, as fitted to the early LS1 engines, then a company in oz makes a bell housing, thats the tricky bit, dont know any companies over here who could cast/make a bell housing :S

t5 seems the go in this country i guess

There are places who can make a BH no problem...but small quantities would cost a clean fortune.

Dellow or Castlemaine Rod Shop in Aus make bellhousings for pretty much any combo.

But surely a yank T5 will be available with a BH to bolt straight on with no messing about ?
