On dreamweaver..?

Am trying to build a webpage which is very amateur as i have only been doing it a for two weeks . Anyway i was using underlined-word links but thought about sprucing it up with just simple buttons to move between pages - in place of the link words.

I can import a button but i can't make it *do* anything. Whilst i can keep using the links, i want to smarten the page up and the updates i have done (that you can't see on the page as yet) would look even better with their inclusion IMO.

What am i doing wrong..?

PS - speak as if talking to an idiot, i struggle with this compooter stuff!

Why dont you use the Flash ones in the Task bar, quite easy. When FTP/uploading the site pages make sure you upload the button too, just like pics etc.
Cant see where your going wrong though if you have imported a button and has link to next page ?previous page it should still work??

Prehaps you could elaberate.

Or if your after a few Buttons like a Navbar go here www.flashbuttons.com/ Just save it to each page.

How do BB.

I just went to the library of buttons on DW, but when importing one, could not make it link to something/anything. I must be missing something damned obvious, as i can link words/emails/pics etc..!

Cheers

For a word just drag across it as if copying then right click you should then get a drop down, find the 'make link' and click a page opens and you can make a link. But you have to make sure it points to a link on the web not on your computers drive.
with pictures or buttons you just have to right click on them to show a link option.

I'm pretty sure thats how I done it(still learning myself)

April's edition of Personal Computer World has a give-away of Xara Webstyle. This has some good menu buttons in it, and is quite easy to use - I'm using it so it must be!

I right-click on the button, choose 'Hyperlink' and then browse to the file within the web, or add a URL if it's external. But that's FrontPage, which is easy

Ta - but...

I can make the link, i.e. have the word underlined. What i am trying to make is a site nav button for example. Say i had a page dedicated to exhaust. Instead of having just an underlined word, i would have a 'proper' rectangular button etc... I treid importing from teh library on DW, a button but could not seem to get it linked to anything - i wondered if i was doing something a bit squiffy....

Soz if didn't make myself clear, or am missing the big pciture..

Do you have such a thing as a Navigation Bar you can insert? If so that will do Back and Next for you. But then, everyone has a Back button on their browser anyway, so maybe it's not important?

Know the feeling... whilst i cannot upload, i thought i would take the time to re-write some sections and expand somewhat.

Have got intot eh heady heights of framed pages..... kinda wishing i hadn't bothered. Need to do some housekeeping in my local site, and can't work out whether it works, cos can't upload at moment! Arrgh!

Is it supposed to be this tricky?

Hey Buffalo, you could always post it to someone on a CD! When I couldn't figure out uploading, I asked a friend to do it for me. But it's nice to be self-contained. Does your web-authoring software have a 'publish' feature?
