Is it me or are these going up and up in value, the cheapest decent one is £90k!

I used to see them for sale not very long ago for around £50k!

It seems their rarity is realy pushing their values up. I reckon £100k plus very soon!

I love that car, bugger that it's so expensive!

I was interested in one three years ago at £40k.

Wish I'd bought it now.

Odd. I always liked the looks, but as I remember the reviews weren't showering them with much, if any, praise.

The press didn't rate them when they were new. Too soft, they said.

I've been a passenger in one, and it was indecently quick (it's got the E39 M5 V8 in I think?)

But it's got bags of style, and certainly exclusive. I like them but at £90k I can think of plenty of better cars for the money.

Correct!

Must admit, I'm surprised they've appreciated so much in value though!

I wouldn't let the reviews put me off tbh. They have got something about them I like.

I think they look amazing - and reviewers sometimes dont 'get' a car.

This is about a modern retro looking car with rear wheel drive and the small matter of 400BHP - I rememeber the top gear test, against the Jag XKR and Porsche 911, the other two got off the line quicker, but the Z8 just reeled them in!

Stunning car!

Bmw need to make another specific sports car!

It was circa 2001, Might have been an XK8, was certainly a 996 Facelift Carrera 2.

Lined up on a strip, Z8 in the middle - the other two get the lead, then the Z8 just eats them.

I think it may have been an XKR as I'm sure an XK8 would have been too slow.

I'm looking for it on Youtube

Didn't Hexagon hoover up whatever they could get their hands on and then jack the prices on them ?

Yup. Good service to owners. (even though I am often annoyed by Hexagon)

My mate suggested going halfs and getting one from the states for £40k a few years back. On reflection he was right, we should have done it.

15 posts in the thread already and not a single complaint (yet) that it was build in Left Hand Drive only!

IMO an interesting car but not a great car - not that I've driven one. Too much retro in the styling and, they say, too much of a boulevard cruiser.

Z1 was to my taste more interesting, although a very different kettle of fish.

I imagine it's one of those cars better suited to trolling down the west coast of the USA than scaring the poop out of you on a wet Milbrook alpine circuit.
