Afternoon all.

I'm booked to fly to Rio on my Honeymoon end of September with BA, lucky me. Accept I can't help worrying about the BA strikes. The news seems to have gone quiet and there's rumours of a settlement, but anyone one know any more?

I know PH is a diverse bunch and well you never know..

I can't help you with the BA situation. I can however tell you with 100 per cent certainty that Rio is the LAST place on earth you should choose to consecrate your love with your new bride.

Not unless you are able to resist the approaches of dozens of 'Vogue Cover Model' standard ladies who will approach you morning, noon, and night offering you the delights of heaven sperm in return for a very reasonable £50.

I assume not much has changed since the best two weeks of my single life there in 1985.

Good luck with that!

They were one of the few that were direct.

The Union are preparing to ballot on a offer from BA. That'll take a couple of weeks. In the fairly unlikely scenario that they reject it, they'd need to hold another ballot to get a mandate for strike action. So that's another couple of weeks plus another week minimum before the strike could begin. All assuming that the Union don't fk up again and can persuade the courts that the new strike is about a different dispute from the earlier strikes.

Meanwhile British Airways flew most of their long haul flights during the last strike period and are expected to guarantee 100% if there is another strike.

Effectively the union has been defeated. I would be fairly confident your flight will be fine but you should know for sure by late August at the latest.

I would suggest inflation may have affected the price.

Aren't the rail unions balloting for a strike over pay in the coming months? If BA don't getcha, Network Rail will! wink

Until there is total stability within BA, I refuse to use them. I suggest everyone else adopts the same approach until they sort their st out, more out of principle than fear of being left up st creek.

And tough st to all the strking staff who lose their best benefit - cheap flights! laugh

We were offered BA flights from/to Luxembourg to LGW then LHR to from Chicago/NY for our Summer holidays. I said "no thanks" and paid more to fly with Swiss via Zurich. I won't use BA any more but used to fly all over the world with them on business.

i stopped flying BA about 10 years ago because of terrible service etc. Only use them when there is absolutely no other realistic alternative.

Last time was about 3 years ago when my Qatar Air flight was cancelled and i needed to be back in Singa very specifically the following AM so they put me onto BA. My first leg LHR - Doha was 1st class more by luck than wealth, so Quatar put me up 1st on BA non-stop.

the inflight was a hostie offering me a selection of Hi8 casettes with grainy movies on them to play in the old armrest camcorder.

this was only 3 years ago when SIA had across the whole fleet 90 channels of interactive movies.
