Desperately trying to get a new set of hoses made up for the oil system so I can get them to Alan (who is rebuilding my car) for the weekend before I go offshore on Monday so as not to have a 3 week delay.

I am installing an oil thermostat that was part of the group buy on here and a new oil cooler which got damaged. Now the connections for the oil thermostat are all 1/2" bsp , the connections to my new oil cooler are 5/8" bsp. What I need to know is what size are the 2 connections onto the block of the engine? I have a feeling that they are 5/8" bsp also but not 100%. Anyone know for sure?

I have a sample hose here but unfortunately it has a male / male stuck in the end of it that I cannot get out to check the female size of the hose fitting.

Sorry, I can't remember. 5/8" BSP does ring a bell though.

Yep, all oil lines on the Cerb are 5/8" BSP. Which is odd as the internal pipe diameter actually requires 1/2" fittings. Yet another wonder of TVR. Oil stats were specced at 1/2" to allow the retro-fit to current hoses

Best bet is get new lines made and use 1/2" to 5/8" on the oil cooler and the block inlet.

Also change the filter housing to one from Thinkauto as the internal porting is again crap due to being very restrictive.

Also the oil pump outlet pipe has to be modified to allow the fitment of the stat as the hose is swaged to the metal pipe You need to re-use the metal pipe due to clearance issues under the engine. This means you either need to get a new hose attached or cut off where the stat will fit and use one of the supplied fittings.

Hi Dylan. Glad to hear things are finally coming together. Handy info as I am just about to replace all of my oil hoses in the next few days before I put the engine back in.
Where did you go for the replacement pipes mate ?

Hi Barry,

Had my hoses made up at Hydrasun in Aberdeen. They have a trade desk at there depot down near Aberdeen Beach. I've gone for Metalflex hoses instead of the original R2T hoses, no idea why they were ever used. The metalflex hoses are good for 120 Bar so still massively over spec but also more resistant to heat and more flexible than the originals.

How is the engine rebuild going on?

Thanks for the info mate.

Got all the parts up from TVR Power a few days ago. Turned into a full rebuild but may aswell while it's out. No rush now that the Tamora is keeping me occupied, but should have it back together over the next few weeks.
