Hi

My missus kindly bought me a Silverstone Track experience for father's day a few weeks ago. After looking at the various options, I opted to do the Single Seater one in October.

I am looking at booking my car in at 'Fearnsport' while there, to co-incide the trip down South From Manchester with some work to be done on my car (996 Turbo X50). They said they can do a remap while I am out on track, so this sounds good.

I am just wondering what else we can do while we are there. I am 27, she is 26 and our baby boy was one in April so he will be 18 months at the time. Is there anything we can do in the vicinity that we will enjoy as a family? We will be spending two or there days there.

Cheers.

The National Trust's Stowe Landscape Gardens are civilised and nearby. Might still be open in October. Makes for a good visit.

Thanks for that. We like walking him out in the buggy and now he is walking, that would be nice.

Can anyone else help? I know October is a way off, but I like to plan ahead.

Silverstone isn't down south, its up north!

Regardless, it is not far from woburn safari park. There is monkeys and other animals.

There's a motocross track at silverstone now. Not sure what days it's open during the week but seeing bikes do big jumps is always interesting...

Either that or Whipsnade, both about 3/4 hour from Silverstone.

+1, we go there regularly for picnics. Just be warned it will be flipping cold in October, the wind can really whip around. But its worth a visit just wrap up warm.

Milton Keynes has xscape with the snowdome and indoor skydiving. Even if you dont do any activities you can go and watch the skiing and skydiving.

Its not far to Oxford, if you want to visit the dreaming spires.

And not far to the Cotwolds.

And Blenheim Palace is impressive - although it seems to be getting more and more expensive. Nice grounds and a good tea shop, as well as having a nosey around the Palace itself.

But don't take a car throught the monkey enclosure unless you want the trim and windscreen wipers stripped from the car!

Another estate which has excellent gardens and is a great house to tour is Waddesdon Manor.

Eh, what?

It's 90 mins from the Cotswalds. It would take similar time to get from Silverstone to London.

are you taking two cars? because that's what all the suggestions require..!
actually just reread and i see you're having a long wknd. in that case do all the things suggested..!

whittlebury park is right next door (ish!) so could take wife for some spa type nonsense - not quite sure how the child fits in.

or... it's obviously very rural and you could just go for a walk!

taxi to Towcester for lunch? (it's a bit dull (but nice enough).
taxi to buckingham - similar but nice and places for lunch and a few girly nick nack (sp??) shops...

or you could get into to MK and either take the time to do some 'generic shopping' (something it's actually pretty good for) (and the now de riguer lunch (it's got okay chain places too like loch fyne and all that sort of ste)) or entertain the idea of doing something fake snow related at xscape.
