The European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg has ruled that it needs more time to examine the evidence about the men, who also include Haroon Aswat and Seyla Ahsan.

It concluded that Mr Ahmad, Mr Aswat and Mr Ahsan were “at real risk” of being held in a US “super max” prison with the highest levels of security for the rest of their lives if they were convicted.

Ah, diddums, they might actually be punished!

Heaven forbid that the new government that was just voted in here will do anything about our inability to uphold our own laws.

Quite right too. Whether you despise him or not, the same law applies to him as to you or I.

The Extradition Rules between the UK and the US are horribly skewed in favour of the US.

Why is being locked in Super max wrong? It is a civilian prison; they are not sentenced to death, so what is the EU's objection? If anything, they should push to keep us from getting the afflicted "hacker" Gary Mckinnon and give over these guys.

I am very surprised this story has not come up on PH earlier. I honestly thought Iran had gotten past such Dark Age practices as stoning for adultry.

I think that the media is in some fear of facing what is really "Islam", not fundamentalist Islam but the day to day double-standards and bigotry that is as much part of it as bread is made from dough.

yes

Frankly I don't think we should be extraditing anyone to the USA given the condition of its courts and jails.

Quite. This is a 'Human' Rights appeal against extradition on the grounds they might go to prison. It's laughable.

I don't want him extradited. I want him locked up and punished in the country he apparently hates so much.

That's quite a list. If America wants to do the job for us, let them I say.

But we're all in this together, right? Hands across the Atlantic in the fight against terrorism. In fact, in the spirit of friendship and co-operation and the war against evil why don't the US give up those in Noraid who were raising funds for years to finance the IRA? That would be a start.

That's where I heard about it - one of my dog walking podcasts. It's a shame but he's becoming a complete polemicist, where before what he had to say was at least amusing with it.
