Hi,

I'm thinking of getting something like a Smart Four-two to advertise my business on. I know Merc and some dealers were doing them new for around £100pcm but I don't want to be tied into a 2/3yr contract on one.

Any ideas where I could get one from for say 6mths, but still have it so I could put some graphics on it? Don't mind even if it's a few years old...

Before anyone says/asks - I don't want to pay out for one in full only to sell it in a few months time.

Cheers

Try and find someone who has a few months left to run on their contract - it'll probably need to be at least seven months - who wants to exit the contract. You can then arrange to transfer the lease, it's an unnecessarily complex procedure but if you find the person I'll be happy to explain exactly what to do for you.

Alternatively rent something for six months.

Oh and use magnetic signs, slightly more expensive but they don't damage the paint and you can transfer them from vehicle to vehicle.

I must admit I thought magnetic signs sounded good, then realised why not...

I'm after a car that I can fully brand as I'm doing a few car shows and the likes. A smart ticks all the right boxes for me, and as I know someone who does a lot of driving in London and surrounding areas it could be used quite a lot there.
I don't even mind renting one for a fee months but they need to be ok with the graphics.
I've contacted Basingstoke Smart to see if they would rent me one, but if anyone had even an old one that they wanted to earn some money on I'd be happy to take it;)

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the offer.
I'm just about to pick one up tomorrow in a sale as I couldn't get anywhere with renting - the cost versus buying a 2nd hand one wasn't that huge.
cheers
