With the hosepipe ban coming tomorrow, how am I going to go about washing my car? I don't get on with my next door neighbour, so flouting the ban is a no go as they're sure to grass me up.

I always carefully hose all the loose muck off before washing normally. Should I go to the garage jet wash, give it a blast then drive carefully home to wash as normal? I'm not driving back to the garage again to rinse it afterwards, so I suppose I could chuck some buckets of clean water over it. Alternatively I could invest in one of those 12v/Battery powered portable pressure washers. They have an internal tank so don't breach hose ban I assume. Videos on utube make them look a bit feeble though.

So, how are you fanatical detailers going to keep your cars clean?

Ummm, buckets of water! I have nevere been able to use a hosepipe.
I use watering cans to firstly rinse the car. Was with 2 bucket method and as you need to rinse, use the watering can, but without the sprinkler end on it, to run the water off.

I thought the ban was only affecting North West England, us Southerners are fine (for the moment!).

Have a few empty bottles of Mineral Water handy just in case. wink

He'll either think you're nuts spending money on drinking water for washing the car or bow down to your ingenuity. biggrin

I think a watering can and two bucket method is the way forward for me. The main concern for me is not being able to rinse the car thoroughly before starting, not much pressure from a watering can.

Is there a local Jet Wash nearby thats still operating? I appreciate the whole hosepipe ban but often business' are an exception and a last resort due to loss of income etc.

Nearest one is a petrol station jobby, no idea if it's still operating.
