Hello,

Currently doing the final plans for my kitchen, and wondered about the space required around a boiler for ventilation. Is there a minimum space? I read a few places that mention 50mm around the sides & front, with extra ventilation in the top. I'm basically wanting to put it inside a wall unit.

Any help would be excellent!

I always check the instructions / paper work that comes with the boiler, it should say what space you should allow when boxing a boiler in.

It's an ideal classic - it says "LXFF and LF Fanned Flue Gas Boiler" then there's "250" in a box in the sticker.

50mm round the front and sides is sufficient. That boiler doesnt need any combustion ventilation just the standard clearances at front and side for maintenance access. If your leaving the top unsealed as well then that acts as cooling ventilation although I'm quite sure purpose provided cooling ventilation is not required for that boiler but wont hurt smile

Thanks wink I am removing the top of the wall unit for extra ventilation. Didn't want to get to a point when Scottish Gas service my heating and condemn the boiler due to lack of ventilation hehe

Cheers,

Neil.

I have just had my boiler moved as part of kitchen refit. The problem I had was that I had to get the boiler as high as possible so as not to poke out below wall unit..The flue has to be accessable, so as it is now above the ceiling height, I had to leave an opening there.

Make sure you leave decent access below with this boiler, if the gas valve gives up they are a pig to change at the best of times, even worse with restricted access to the bottom.
