I have a 4 point harness in mine for sprinting. I replaced the standard seat belt bolts with eye bolts and the harness clips on to that. I use the normal inertia belt for day to day road use - it is far more comfortable and you can glance over your shoulder. The harness stays in the car and gets used on track and for sprints.
The main advantage of a harness isn't so much in case of a crash (though it will hold you far more securely than a standard seatbelt) but in order to stop you sliding around in the seat so that you avoid the temptation to hang on to the steering wheel.
One other thing to bear in mind is that at least theoretically, a quick release harness is not approved for road use - it has to have a seatbelt type buckle.
