I had a moment this evening when watering the garden and thinking about finances(who thought watering the plants was relaxing!). I decided that the Nob was going to have to go as the overdraft isn't too healthy. To my astonishment, the wife said NO.
It got me thinking about priorities and whats important. So here's a question for you all: Should you own a Nob or any serious car and be living in a relatively humble house OR should you own the fancy place and a humble car? Or, ultimately 'Joust style', own everything?
Me, I own two properties. One very nice listed stone old school in Sevenoaks and a little cottage near Deal. That sounds quite good doesn't it? I've worked bloody hard for it and had no inheritance yet(but I'm working on it!)
So why am I struggling to keep the car? I sometimes scratch my head and wonder where all the money goes.

I sometimes scratch my head and wonder where all the money goes.I have in recent months thought of moving on, not that I need the money from the car, it is 20 something thousand sat on your drive, for many of us it is an evening or weekend get up and have a blast just for the hell of it, but I have just been out to B & Q in it and people waved at me, they probably wouldn't have done that if I had been in the Merc.
They are addictive, my wife claims she doesn't really like them but when I said it was up for sale (and it still is in the classifieds on pistonheads)I was quizzed relentlessly.
I get those as well...moments.
Currently my moment is - trade in the M12GTO3R plus the CSL plus the M3 for an M5 Touring. That was until today's story upped their values I suppose.
My advice. Don't sell anything. If the overdraft is tight go and work a bit harder (again!) and knock it down.

I can only just justify the Noble and I have spent thousands on it over the last nearly 5 years. I have a flat and should really be looking at moving to a house but the way I look at it is, I want to enjoy myself my property is a place to put my head down so on goes the noble to bigger and better things. 
I ask myself the same question sometimes -usualy when having cash flow problems due clients who seem to think they can pay when they feel like it.
I have got a humble house and often think that the money could be put to beter use and help me up the ladder. But ill have to get my finger out instead and get the business out there. coz i love the car to much.
I guess it comes down to what do you enjoy more, having a bigger house or the nob. But dont get a bigger house just to keep up with the jones just think you could be dead tomorrow so live for today!!

I have to say that I am very lucky to be 24, own my own moddest semi detatched and the Noble with a Mk4 golf for work and back. I must say though that currently all my hours of work go on keeping these things going and have little to spare (if any) at the end of each month. My girl friend hates this, she blames the "dangerious" car for it all as i have to maybe not go on holiday this year with her etc. Personally I blame the house. It takes up much more money a month than my noble - and really i could rent or share with friends for a lot less than paying for my own every month! I am in the mindset of the noble must stay, as i am only young once, and might not have the chance to own a noble later with kidds and all those so called adult responsibilities! I can go in holidays later in time when i earn more money or when she ends up helping me out paying for the house later in life - either that, or an upgrade to an M400 hahaha

The answer is don't borrow money in the first place, you always have to pay it back sometime (unless you're a bank)

Can I fill it with crap and take it to the dump? -No
Will I park it on a street, anywhere, and walk away? -No
Will I take it to Sainsburys? -No
I doubt anyone on here can justify owning one but they've still got them

I do the same virtually every year. I look at whats in the garage and think "hmmm, you know what? If I sold that I'd be able to blah blah blah". Then I usually sell whatever it is and either pine for it like a sick dog and go out and buy something better, or, use the money for whatever it is I wanted it for (house refurb last time
) and then spend ages being miserable until I try to justify to myself why I need to fill that space in the garage again.

This is going to sound terrible, but I have spent more time getting my garage ready for the return of my car, than I did getting the nursery ready for my baby Daughter. She’s one this Tuesday and is showing no ill effects from her Fathers lack of prep work

wow. thank-you for posting this. been on the verge of selling to move house. but i couldnt work out how to get back into a noble esk car later. couldnt sell it and buy one later id have to have something else. but there is NOTHING else. tvrs too common but as quick in a different way. lotus 7 type cars just dont get the same attention.
