E39 M5 Puncture Repair
Discussion
I have the compressor and can of tyre sealant, and as far as I'm aware it's the same ones that have been in the car since it was new in 2001.
A couple of years ago BMW suggested that I should change them at a cost of £105, which I politely declined.
No doubt I'll be rewarded for my tightfistedness at the side of some motorway in the pissing rain.

IIRC, The tyre weld needs unloading into the tyre whilst ensuring the nail or whatever is at the bottom, so gravity does its thing. The can has enough to inflate the tyre to about 75%, you then drive and stop after 5 miles once it has all circulated in there and use the compressor to get back to normal PSI.
I drove about 200meteres with a nearly flat tyre, just whilst I realised what was happening and the rim of the alloy chewed up the inside of the tyre making it unrepairable.

Stupid question coming up. I have full AA cover so if I called them out with a puncture what do they do? Would they recover me to a tyre specialist or do they use tyre weld?
I have only had a puncture on the move once and that was in a AX and I would always change them myself if I had a spare.
Only reason for asking is that we use the car for family outings so I wouldn't want to be stranded for too long with a 5 and 7yr old
