I have an unnatural urge to cover my arctic silver S in a matte black wrap and change the standard 17s for black 18s.

A) Is this wrong?
B) Does anyone have any pics of such a creature? Google drew a blank.
B) What are peoples opinions? Sexy or shocking?

In other news...A few of us are going to "The green hell" at the start of October. More the merrier.

Two posts for the price of one. Thats the recession for you.

IT would be different. If the money is not an issue, then go for it, as you can always take it off.

Not too sure its really me, sure it'll make a statement, but whether it actually looks good is probably up for debate (and a rather personal opinion).

matt black panels always remind me of when cars used to rust badly and people would diy replace front wings, bonnets etc with matt black unpainted pattern panels.

I would speak to a few others who have had wraps done. If you're not very careful you'll end up with blade marks in your paintwork where the wrap is sliced - this is the experience of a few friends who have had it done to their cars, and they haven't been using cowboys either..

Matt black can only look good on a modern car if it resembles a race car (e.g. Exige Scura). Otherwise I think it looks ridiculous. If you add some appropriate wheels and a hardtop and lower it like the Boxster here:

... you might get away with it.

Matt black is best left to hot rods.

Whenever I see a matt black car I always feel the urge to draw on it with chalk.

It's seems quite unfashionable to say so on here, but I really like the matt black look.

id consider it on a rough car that really needs a respray anyway , id be scared of the blade marks etc

what do the wrapers do for the door jambs etc , around hinges and so on

It looks nice on some cars, but it's a bit 2008.

I agree. I've seen several cars in matte black in London, a Rolls Royce and a Range Rover. If I'm honest I think they looked very shabby, as in it just made them look tatty not cool. Gloss black would have looked way cooler IMO.

matte black to me is either a crashed car with repair panels or something out of Dukes of Hazzard, but then it only looks good on classic American muscle:

Do Boxsters work on 18s or does it ruin the handling?

I've got 18's on mine and it's superb fun! Makes the car look a little more purposeful too.

I like the wrap but the 'GT3' sills and rear bumper extensions look ridiculous. And it is far too low.

I had 19s on my 986S with no issues as far as I was concerned.
