There is also the BMW GB car club and join the M section specifically. Its a bit steep, £45 and the benefits as far as I could tell were a little thin.

http://forum.bmw5.co.uk is a UK based site which has a lot of useful info but is not very M focused although there are a good few M owners on there.

This is truly the font of all E39 M5 knowledge. Everything you ever wanted to know about the M5 is here and more. Mostly US based membership but a decent proportion of UK owners too. There is always somebody who will answer your question. There is a big FAQ thread which is well worth a read if you are considering buying an M5 or are a new owner.
