Hi All,

Having a mare with getting insurance sorted on cars as Hagerty will not longer cover my 2004 car.

Here's the story. Was with Elephant from 2000 - 2006, however Hagerty do not care about NCB. They are willing to give me a letter stating no claims in 4 years 2006 - 2010.

Went to Admiral to get a quote for multi car (they are owned by same company who own Elephant), however they are not willing to accept that I have 10 years NCB. They will honour 5 years.

I have asked for a letter from both companies showing that I have been claim free since 2000.

Any ideas on what to do? Tired a few specialist companies but getting mental quotes.

Cheers

Sunil

I was thinking that - how much are Admiral saying the difference in the premium would be?

You'd get better than that from Chubb.

Call Quantum plc and ask for James

Or try Primo - they seem to be having a bit of a push in various places.

FFS stop whinging and pay the money, this is the second thread you have started on this subject. You are looking to insure 3 Porsches (yes readers that is right 3 of them) and you are moaning about the cost being £1700 to cover all of them fully comp for a year rolleyes

Caveat emptor and all that but just get on with it :nomuppetsmiliethen:

Why do people assume they have a right to an NCB? It's not a legal entitlement, it's a sales gimmick invented by insurance companies. They're not obliged to honour somebody elses, and they're not obliged to give you any themselves.

This seems to come up a lot on here. NCB is not a right, even if you've 'earned' it!

Nothing. Not a cent.

I've got 12 years and the certificate from Zurich Premier says "5 years - maximum"

Yes it is.

In the same way as insurance companies have the 'right' to label me as a spanner beacuse I'm 26, have a penis and their spreadsheet says I won't be able to pass a bus stop without ploughing into it, I have the 'right' to refute that claim with my NCB.

I can't for the life of me understand why NCB isn't just linked to the driver period. At the end of the day, if you haven't made a claim in x years, then you haven't made a claim in x years. The details of the policies in force at the time are immaterial.

The point is that the fact that you haven't had an accident in x years doesn't entitle you to a discount on your premium. Your insurer will probably give you one, because he wants your business. Equally, so will a competitor, but you can't get do much if an insurer fails to recognise your NCB because it doesn't actually exist.

Sorry, but this is cobblers.

They have the right to set the rules. They are offering the insurance.

You're not "entitled" to ANY NCB. They give it to you as a marketing tool.

...but, within the normal limits, it's universally offered, and universally accepted between insurance companies. So as a marketing tool it's a bit pointless.

Oi gents chill out.... I am just trying to get a deal. Why shouldn't I ?

The difference between 5 years and 10 years NCB with Admiral is actually 400 quid or there abouts.

Also the best quote I can secure on my Turbo is just under a grand, there are others on the Porsche forum that are quoted £400 quid from the same conpany. Yes I live in ste Croydon, however I do not think it deserves that much of a loading seeing that I have not claimed in well over 10 years. Nuff said.
