Sale of goods act should cover it. AFAIK a trader can't skirt this but happy to be proved wrong.OatSy said:

No such thing as a 'trade sale' to the public, no matter what they say.The Courts do allow for an amount of 'reasonable-ness' - in that a £200 20 year old snotter will have more problems than a £100k 6 month old Ferrari.

Hi all.
I brought this car this week. In regards the warrantee, i had to sign to say i had brough the car with no warrantee. The car had a few things wrong with it which is why they were selling it the way they were. It needed a Major Service, MOT, 2 rear tyres, new engine mount, new exhaust mount, and all the discs needed re-facing. Sorted out a deal on them carrying out all the work for me. 5 days later it was ready for collection.
Picked it up friday and before i had left the garage the fuel sendor in the tank decided to play up. So every now and then i get a warning saying it has no fuel, or sometimes it says i have 150 litres. So they filled the tank up with fuel for me and have ordered a new sendor which they will be fitting free of charge. Until then i just have to make sure i have plenty of fuel in it.
An hour later while out in it i notice it running abit hot. Not helped by warm weather and abit of traffic. Get it home and it decides to piss water all over the drive. No bother though as its now running at the right temperature, even survived a nice traffic jam earlier. I put it down initial heat issues down to a little bit to much water in the system.
To top the first day off i took it out to the pub, got the other end to find my drivers window stuck open. So took it home and locked it up, popped cover over it and left it till morning. Saturday morning popped it back to the garage. They spend the day stripping the dash apart to get the switch out, even working late so i could get the car back that day as i needed it. Picked it up at the end of the day with a new switch and working windows. Again no charge for the work.
So although there is no warrantee, and i signed for it, they have been keen to make sure everything runs smoothly for me. So as yet i have no complaints. Really happy with the car, had a nice run down to Sunday service in it.
