I guess we are all the same that when we go for the MOT we are always on edge waiting for the tale of woe. As this was the first MOT I have taken the Wedge for this was for sure the case as you always doubt how well you inspected the car when you bought it............especially as it is now 21 years old.

Anyway, great news is it passed with only a few minor adjustments needed. First was the headlight alignment - sorted in seconds, the other was a very small amount of play in the UJ's but a healthy dose of Grease sorted that. As it took a fair amount of grease to fill them I guess they were pretty dry!!!

So, 1 happy owner of a shiney new MOT certificate smile

they care about slight play in U-joints? lol...but the outtriggers can be rotten, lotus backbone chassis´ could be rotten, speedometers not working, tyres with full thread but 15years old and perished will pass, hazard lights needs to be activated by 2 switches, hazard warning light not working, steering gaitors perished, u-joints in steering column seized, oil leaks everywhere, reverse gear interlock not working, wheel bearings had play, nearly all suspension bushes (original rubber ones) perished, handbrake working on the last "click" of the lever, brake hoses perished....minimum 60% of the above mentioned "faults" have been present in all cars i bought....interestingwise all cars had passed the MOT a week b4.

you can give a sh.t on a fresh MOt

You forgot - horn worked by two pieces of bare wire touched together in the cockpit, roll bar drop link welded together, held for 2 miles to the MOT station and snapped again 20 miles later, front wheels foul on the inner wings when car is on the ground but the MOT specifically states that the wheels are tested for fouling when the suspension is unloaded....

Yes it's not worth a lot but it does test:

a) car stops
b) car steers
c) seat belts work
d) you can get out of car from the inside
e) exhaust doesn't poison you (too much)

which covers most eventualities ;^)

Flippin' 'eck chaps. Reading that it means mine must be factory freshsmile Had a real good look around the chassis etc again whilst it was on the ramps and it is in incredible condition so overall I still think I invested well!
