Overheating

Hi all what a time to be having overheating issues ! Well briefly the car seems to be running great , but over the last couple of months noticed that ive been losing water from the top of the swirl pot , thus causing the car to slowly over heat , not sure where to start any advice please ? .

Which Griff do you have. The early ones are slightly different I think.

Is it leaking from one of the connections or the cap?

If it's got a hole in it you'll either have to replace it or see if you can find someone to fix it for you.

I'm confused. The swirl pot is the upper tank and doesn't have a cap that would ever need replacing. This tank should always be full to the very top. The lower tank is the expansion and has a replaceable plastic screw top. This tank is where you usually add water, but in my case and many others from what I have heard, normally settles to about 50mm above the bottom.

If the top tank,(swirl pot), is actually leaking it is possible that the N/S engine mount has failed allowing the engine to rock and the belt pulley to cut into the underside of the spigot for the overfow pipe. Happened to me a couple of years back.

ive always kept her topped up to 2" from the neck , never had any heat issues proir to the year , and have noticed the needle reaching the red on the temp gauge of late , never before in 5 year ownership

rad and all pipe work fine and leak free thrmostat checked and working fine
