A chap I once considered a mate was caught drink driving on a drink driving ban 3 times.
Whilst there is nothing in law to stop him getting his license back now driving is out of the question simply due to the cost of insurance.
Its priced him off the road, bloody good thing too really.

This is crazy. Especially when that kid got 3 months for driving his dads VR6 at 110 in a 40.
What planet are some of these judges on. Certainly not this one.
Probably the same lentilist liberalistic twats who dismissed a perfectly good appeal from Idris Francis because the control freak socialist goevrnment wanted to be in the right, although they're patently wrong.....
BRING BACK the birch, the ducking stool (for lying politicians), the stocks (for scrotes), hanging, etc the world would be a better place for it......

Most people in that situation have demonstrated they've got no respect for driving bans anyway, so why not just drive without insurance too? The only punishment is gonna be another ban and a fine less than the cost of insuring someone with a clean licence...

Hear! Hear!
Took the words "write" out of my typing fingers, Liebchen!
Birch the politicos? Hmm! Think they would enjoy that!
Take it you chose the ducking stool cos the lying twazaks have got used to rotten eggs being chucked at them!
Hanging - provided we could draw and quarter them as well!
But when you contrast these silly judgements which involve really, really dangerous twazaks against today's idiotic judgement - theses numpties really are asking for the above treatment!

Hear hear!! This country is getting sh$tter by the day. Bring back proper punishment and concentrate on real issues rather than minor ones! If the government spent as much time and effort concentrating on terrorism prevention as they do on speeding motorists we might live in a safer country1 (oh I forgot, they don't speed)

He's been sent down several times apparently. The Judge decided that custodial terms were not having any effect, so he gave him a community order instead.
Well that will make all the difference.
How about removing all his benefits and throwing the
er out on the streets. Here you go mate, you dont respect our society and laws, well go and starve you parasite.

Is this not a classic case of lock up now? As has been mentioned (several times) already, if someone does not respect a ban, why actually bother with insurance (it's not valid in this case anyway)? Why should this person be granted a 15th time lucky - only to kill/maim someone soon. He could well find he gets hospitalised by someone before too long. He'll probably just take to driving an automatic, or a car with hand controls. Still with no insurance though!
Unbelieveable.
In the same way that once sentenced you can appeal, is there no way of forcing a retrial of an indictable offence like this, where the judges 'opinion' is clearly NOT in the public interest. Why should this person be granted the right to carry on as before, despite their record. If people behave like this, then I'm afraid they should have their liberties removed and should receive a custodial sentence. If someone has the complete lack of mental capacity to accept a ban, then what good is 'counselling' going to do them .They won't have the comprehension skills necessary to heed the advice. Complete cnuts.
Sods law also states that had you or I - clean/cleanish records committed the same offence, we could potentially face a 28 day custodial! Stop the giro and all form of social support for scum and tag them to prevent any activity beyond a few hours each day. 3 strikes, etc...
