I've volunteered to help my younger brother to service his new (to him) Mazda 2 and I'm trying to find out the correct torque settings for the sump drain bolt and the spark plugs. I've tried google but it didn't yeild any useful results.

I'd be grateful if anyone could let me know what the correct settings should be, or event better if someone could e-mail me a copy of a service manual, or a link to one.

The car in question is a 2006 Mazda 2, 1.4 petrol.

Thanks.

People torque these things up?

Spark Plugs - Hand tight then a touch more, 1/8 turn maybe.

Sump Plug - Quite tight, or "nipped right up".

That's the way my dad taught me laugh

I understand you may want to do things properly however read

Spark plugs 15nm gapped to 1.3mm, sump plug 28nm, according to Autodata.
Hope this helps.

And heat the copper washer for the sump plug red hot in a blowtorch.

I don't have a blowtorch in my toolbox. Can I borrow yours?

The fact that you've been on this site for 73 months and still haven't worked out where to post questions about cars and stuff.

You tt.

It's specifically because I've been on this site for over 6 years that I know that P&P gets a lot more trafffic, than say Jap Chat, where the the speed of posts can, at best, be described as glacial.

Let's see; 3 new post today, 3 yesterday, another 3 on Wednesday and 3 again on Monday. Sunday was a very busy day, racking up a marathon of 4 posts, making up for Saturday's poor effort of only a single post.

Now remind me again why I haven't worked out where to post questions about cars and stuff?
