I have tried 6 different cash machines this morning and all of them said "the financial organization is unavailable". I used a first direct and Halifax card.

Anyone else having problems?

Matt.

Call up your bank, 1 not working could be an issue with the machine itself but 6 suggests there is a block on your card or it has been cancelled etc.

The worst is when you have to use a nationwide machine. They are the slowest of all the ATM's. Last night I tried 3 in a row, all of which made me go through the stupidly long process of putting the card in, waiting 20 seconds, entering pin, wait 20 seconds, request cash, wait 20 seconds, tell it I don't want a receipt, wait 20 seconds, ask for £20 - then get told the machine has no cash.

Why doesn't it just flash a message up saying "No cash in this machine but if you're a woman feel free to spend 10 minutes checking your balance and requesting mini-statements"

Had similar back in 2002 whilst abroad- took ages for it to work out what it was doing. Wait, wait, wait- nothing happens.
