As the title really, we (the wife and I, on our honeymoon) are going to Vegas for a few days and are planning to have a drive down to LA for the weekend, is there anything we must when we are there, the plan at the minute is just to arrive and have a mooch around, I think planning something may be better?

Any ideas anybody?

LA itself isn't great - I'd try and do Hearst Castle which is between SF and LA.

In fact, I think I'd rather go to San Fran if possible.

Agree with above. I would spend my time visiting somewhere else. LA is so big you spend all your time driving from place to place.

Hit further up the coast.

Ventura County's nice.
I used to spend about 6 weeks/year there when my eldest brothert and his family lived in Thousand Oaks/Newbury Park.

SF is too far to travel really as I don't want to spend 10 hours driving there from Vegas and the same back, I'm only there for a week, we're going to do the canyon by plane, got a couple of shows booked in Vegas but have kept the weekend free, any other suggestions?

Newport and Huntington are very nice.

Failing that, head for San Diego. Much nicer than a lot of LA.

LA is a hole. Stay a night or two on the Queen Mary; more history and class than the rest of LA put together, and you can laugh at the visible smog over it.
