I've been offered a white Evo 2 with 6 months MOT, tax, running around 300bhp(apparently a dyno print is available), polished rim enkei alloys etc for £1k.

The guy lives next door and we chat regularly, he just wants rid of it as he gets hassle from his Mrs about the car and needs money for the immenent arrival of a new baby.

I don't need it, but to add a weekend car would seem like fun. The issue is i plan to buy a house in the new year and am hence saving hard- £1000 won't do any harm will it..........

The last issue is insurance - i'm 23 so if anybody had an evo when you were in my shoes or has any advice i'd love to hear it.

I'm awaiting a callback from Adrian Flux and Footman james.

what are your thoughts?

Thanks for your help

How many miles has it done? and how many running 300bhp, i'll wager its going to go bang soon.

For £1000 there is probably something wrong with it. However if you've got the space you could break it up after it goes bang, you'll get most of the money back if the body panels are straight/rust free and some of the running gear is salvageable.

I remember reading on a forum somewhere - think it was one of the dedicated EVO forums - that a guy had bought a lovely looking EVO from Japan, but this car had never seen any rust proofing underneath. Had been used on UK roads for ~5 years or so, and looked lovely, but it was hiding rust horrors. The floorpan and chassis was rotten through.

Beware.
