Tire question... dumb maybe, but gotta ask

I just ordered a set of Pzero's from Tire Rack.

335/30ZR-18 Pirelli PZero Rosso Asimmetrico
235/35YR-18 Pirelli PZero System Asimmetrico

I know these are asymmetrical, but the site didn't specify left or rights. I emailed their customer sevice, and asked if they were left and right specific. The answer I got was...confusing. Yes, they are asymmetrical, but no left or right.

They have to be directional, so if there are no lefts/rights, then that means the tire pattern would both "point" in the same direction. I looked at the Gallery section of the Ultima site, and the red GTR at the top clearly shows a set of PZero's with the tread pattern "opposed" to each other. What am I missing? Did I waste a few too many brain cells in my rebelious youth?

BTW, They had both sizes in stock and shipped the same day. 4 Tires with shipping came to $1,236.89 USD

The F1's that the factory use are asymmetrical directionals, which means there will be a Tyre for each corner. But as far as I know the old P Zero's are just asymmetrical, which means they have an inside and outside, but are not directional and can be put on either side of the car.

I am still a bit confused then. The GTR gallery on the Ultima sports site shows a red GTR (sans rear clip) with Pzero's with the treads opposed to each other. If the tires are directional, then one of the tires in the picture would have to be mounted with the rotation going in the wrong direction.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't being argumentative with you...

The (misinformed) customer service rep at Tire Rack was telling me that they were directional, but after closely looking at the posted pic, the tire must not be (to your point) because it IS mounted bi-directionally. (is that really a word?) SOOO, unless the tire in the factory pics show incorrectly mounted tires (which I am certain they are not) then you are right as well.

Crack pipe? I think not (from a future builder). Both comments are correct. PZero is available "both ways." Not to confuse further, but I believe the PZero is available in 5 different designs:

• PZERO -
  
  • Direzionale - Wet Grip, Directional Tread
  • Asimmetrico - Dry (may be directional also, but think not)
  • Nero - For heavier vehicles?
  • Rosso - Comfort, Quiet, High Performance
  • Rosso Direzionale - General Use

I believe the tires on the GTR site in the .jpg listed above are "Rossa", which is asymmetric, non-directional. It appears that the 335/30-ZR18 is available in Rossa and Asimmetrico -- on the USA Website...

Scott, you are correct. The tires showed up on my doorstep today (Rosso's). They do not indicate on the sidewall in any way that they are directional. (As I suspected). The Customer service rep at tire rack was giving me conflicting (read incorrect)info.

On a brighter note, I was informed today that the car had cleared customs. I should have an arrival date tomorrow from the freight company.
