Hi All

I've had my MX5 for about 15 months now and within the first couple of weeks I came to the car to find the below crease / dent. I have no idea how it was done as it was low speed enough to not damage the paint but at a weird angle.

Anyway I got a quote from the local Mazda dealer for about £900 to replace the wing and respray it and elected not to do anything with that as it's not impacting the way the car drives and if I'm going to pay that much for a respray I thought I'd wait for a couple of years after I've collected a few stone chips!

However of late I have been wondering if it is repairable using a bodywork specialist - so I was hoping for some thoughts and even some estimated costs if possible.

As you can hopefully see from the pics the impact crease is about 2/3 inches long and has pushed the bodywork out slightly near the top of the arch. In addition it has caused the arch liner to come away slightly (I still have the plug to pop it back in if it is repairable)

Cheers for any opinions

Phil

Interesting - I'm based in Kingston so are there any recommendations for people near West London / Surrey?

You shoulf be OK with that. I use 'Dent Devils' who would charge you £75+VAT to deal with that. After they have done it, I doubt you would be able to ever tell the dent was there. That looks like a fairly easy place to access. Even it was double skinned, they can do alot with a glue puller, then tamp it back down again. If you vist their website, they have the facility for you to submit a photograph and can give you a quick opinion. Assuming the paint is not broken, you will probably be fine.

Oli from Prestige Dent Solutions PH link came over today and has done an excellent job of repairing it. The inner "arm" that supports the body work from the chassis had evidently been bent and the supporting structure for the inner arch had been shattered so it must have been some knock (even if it didn't show that badly on the exterior and paint.

Anyway it's now nice and straight and unnoticeable. Oli was great with his comms and has done a really solid job for £75 (inc VAT)...much better value than the £900 odd quote from the dealer!
