Misfire, rough running when cold?

Hi,
Hope the very informative technical buffs can help with a problem I am having with the family runabout. It's a Corsa b 1.4 16v which has been a great car but has developed a fault recently.
When starting from cold it is hesitant through the gears almost feels like it is misfiring. The rev counter does not jump and as soon as I have driven a few minutes it runs fine and the engine revs freely and smoothly through all gears. Could it be the coil pack, plugs or the leads breaking down or some cold start sensor or something?
Hope someone can help before I have to book it into a garage to diagnose it?
