chrysler 300c mercedes engine low mpg

i have a chrysler 300c which i believe has a 3,0 diesel mercedes engine. car is returning no more than 24mpg on motorway at 70-80mph and around 17-18 in town with gentle driving.
recently serviced.
tried to disconnect the maf and no difference.

any ideas.

Its the older 320 CDI engine I believe.

Your MPG does sound worryingly low, I have the later 320 engine and I get a minimum MPG of around 28 (in "s" mode around town). Im up 45 ish on a run then.

I cant help with finding the problem Im afraid though.
