Someone stole a bit off my S2 :(

Hi everyone,

Some little sod has opened my fuel filling flap (sorry not sure of technical name) and stole the little removable cap that sits underneath it! Probably kids!

Does anyone know where i can pick up that little replacement cap?

Same as Norman, not sure what you mean, is it some kind of filter to stop junk getting in your tank.

On an S, I would suggest that is a replacement.

Garages will sell temp plastic ones, motor factors will sell a more perm metal one

hmmm I'll post a pic of my fuel cover to see if it's a TVR original. The reason I think the removable cap thing should b there is because my fuel cap doesn't pop open anymore without it. I now have to press the release catch and use my key to flip it open!

Replacement Caps and (possibly) bases are available from TVR Car Parts, if you send me your email address via a PM I can send details of who they are fitted and have a crappy complete cap (which included the actual sealing bit) if you need it

Hi Norman,

Thats the same fuel cover as i have. The domed bit with the rubber seal is the piece that has been stolen. For some reason it wasnt attached and I assumed it was meant to be that way.

I'll have a look on TVR car part thanks.

The domed part is (or should be) retained by four peened over things and have a sppring behind to ensure a fuel tight seal. Essential for an MOT pass I believe.

I'll check to see if I still have the very tatty complete cap but wont be until the weekend. TVR Car Parts will only have the base and top not the sealing bit

If you're struggling look at the useful links wiki at the top of the forum - there's a link in there to Glen at the Sunbeam Rapier Owners Club - they have the same filler cap. I do know he had one or two filler caps spare.

Its sods law isnt it as my MOT is due shortly and the bloody piece they stole cant be purchased! Just read your article im PM Norman so thanks for the info and greatly appreciate you looking for a spare bit. I'll pop to my local auto merchant chappies with the pictures and let you know if they have or find a suitable replacement,

Maybe if you go back to the garage(s) you've used recently, you'll find "the little sod" put it in the box of left-behind fuel filler caps that all petrol stations have...

HaHa, I definately know I havent left it behind somewhere as my fuel cap doesnt shut properly without it.
