Hi All

Hopefully a simple question for you to answer... :-)

I am busy fitting the wishbones, and have noticed that on the front, the upper wishbone mounting point for the hub assembly / upright is not in line with the bottom one, so the hubs sit back at a small angle. is this right?

The other question is about the steering arm.... this mounts to the hub assembly by two taped holes. These holes sit above the centre line if the hub is one way round, and below the centre line if its the other way round, which way is right?

A final question is about the caster adjuster on the upper front wishbone, well what is a good starting point, because I expect that later adjustment is difficult because you have to remove the taper mounting of the upright to adjust it....?

I have had a look though the forum, and can;t find any reference to this, although I am sure that these question have been answered many times....so thank you in advance...

Gareth

Not sure but are you talking about the KPI (King Pin Angle) though the ball joints ? Do you have the fixed wishbones or the Rose jointed versions ?

This it the suspension Caster angle that you are seeing in the suspension design. not sure on what the exact value will be - the top wishbone outer ball joint should be further to the rear. when viewing from the side somewere around 5° is a ball park value. Caster helps to add negative camber to the inside wheel when in a turn.

cant remember - you could check one of the build sites (stigs are good) you are trying to get the steering rack tie rod at a similar angle to the top and bottom wishbones. This is important for bump steer setings

Didnt think caster was adjusatable in the suspension, but could be wrong. camber is adjustable however and should be in the manual

I think you are referring to camber adjustment here and yes it would seem that you do need to keep separating the ball joint however there is another method.
When you want to make an adjustment remove the bolts passing through the top wishbone pivot points. The whole wishbone can then be rotated on the ball joint and dropped back into the chassis mounts. Whilst doing the adjustment you only need to poke the bolts back in place without fitting the nuts and tightening up.
